5 Top Food Trends for 2024

Trend no.1 Ingredients in the Spotlight

One in every three consumers worldwide now prioritizes checking product ingredients. A staggering 42% globally deem protein as the most crucial component. This trend underscores the importance of clean labels featuring a concise list of locally sourced ingredients. Plant-based protein with simple naturally occurring ingredients is perceived as more beneficial to the consumer.

Trend no.2 Healthy Aging

Healthy aging entails preventing weight gain and maintaining optimal health. Over a third of global consumers prioritize weight management and a balanced diet for this purpose. Surveyed consumers rank weight management as their primary concern, followed by heart health and bone/joint health. At Good Food, we advocate for incorporating whole grain-rich products into diets as they provide fiber and foster gut health, crucial for effective weight management.

Trend no.3 Indulging in Health

In 2024, the high cost of living reshapes consumer priorities, placing taste and affordability at the forefront. This year’s trends emphasize the importance of brands facilitating longer, healthier lives while satisfying consumers’ cravings for both health and pleasure. There is no doubt that food should be tasty yet healthy, meaning less processed, low in fat and sugar, and devoid of artificial additives. Research conducted by Good Food shows that more than 70% of rice and corn cake consumers enjoying them as guilt-free snacks, their popularity underscores their delectable taste.

Trend no.4 Sustainability

Sustainability encompasses nature preservation, waste reduction, and eco-friendly packaging. Consumers prioritize taste alongside eco-friendliness when making purchasing decisions. At Good Food, we’ve made strides in reducing plastic usage by optimizing packaging, resulting in a significant 16.5-ton decrease in plastic consumption in one year. Our efforts have led to a 21% reduction in plastic per package and the introduction of new recyclable materials. In the near future, we plan to introduce other product lines using only recyclable packaging.

Trend no.5 Plant-Based

The plant-based movement continues to gain traction, with consumers opting for more plant-centric diets featuring minimally processed ingredients and extended shelf life. Consumers are currently opting for plant-based products to diversify their diets. In response to rising energy costs, demand is surging for minimally processed, shelf-stable food and beverages, reducing reliance on refrigeration or freezing. As we navigate the evolving food landscape, the demand for nutritious, delicious, and economically viable plant-based options is poised to grow in the coming years.
